How selection works

Applications are assessed on Advocacy Relevance (reviewed against the advocacy document), the thematic relevance (reviewed against the programming frameworks), the suggested speakers presenting, and any financial contribution pledge. Each application receives a composite score. The programming committee will then review all applications at the deadline.

Open platform

Each slot shows the current highest confirmed score — never who is behind it. You can revise your application at any time before the deadline to improve your position.

Two application rounds

Slots are released in two rounds. Round 1 closes 31 August 2026 and those slots are allocated and announced shortly afterwards. The remaining slots open in Round 2, closing 30 September 2026. Both rounds span the whole pavilion programme, so every track, every time of day and every premium day is available in each round.

Program selection criteria for Think Negative (COP31)

1. Advocacy

a. This criterion relates to the main goal of Think Negative: to include carbon removal in the final resolutions of COP31.

i. Negotiators from countries which already have CDR in their climate strategies bring the topic into conversations;

ii. Demonstrating country or industry integration of CDR in combination with other accepted climate action tools (e.g., decarbonisation and adaptation)

iii. Maximise support for CDR2030 Actions among initiatives that lead Plans to Accelerate Solutions under the Global Climate Action Agenda;

iv. Understanding the need for removal to be part of Paris Agreement commitments at the global and country levels.

b. The percentage of the total score is 35%.

2. Theme

a. This criterion regards the alignment with the proposed tracks following:

i. Policy, Regulation and Compliance Markets;

ii. Sectoral Demand & Industrial Integration;

iii. Market Building, Finance and Buyer Confidence;

iv. Regional Implementation.

b. The percentage of the total score is 25%.

3. Speakers

a. The speakers criterion assesses the alignment of the speakers with the general programme framework and the advocacy goals.

b. The percentage of the total score is 25%.

4. Financial Contribution

a. This criterion relates to the quantity of the possible financial contribution from the organisation(s). It is important to emphasise that the amount of the contribution does not impede session realisation.

b. The percentage of the total score is 15%.
