Built to Last: Industrial Integration as a Route to Carbon Removal in Emerging Markets
(GMT+3)
This session explores how heavy industry and carbon dioxide removal intersect in emerging markets, using Türkiye's massive cement sector as a working case. It examines how municipal and industrial waste streams (such as sewage sludge converted into biochar) and other removal pathways can be durably mineralised into concrete and aggregates. Moving beyond abstract theory, the discussion focuses on what is required to unite industrial end users, carbon suppliers, policymakers, and development finance around a bankable, replicable model for industrial decarbonisation and zero-waste implementation.
