Carbon Cascadia - The Carbon Dioxide Removal Game
Explore the social complexities of CDR by playing them. Carbon Cascadia is a card game built from years of social scientific CDR research - designed to foster dialogue and coalition-building around Carbon Dioxide Removal. We will use the game to present current research on the regional embeddedness of CDR and the whole CCS technology chain (originating from the Project "RamonCo").
Format: 15 min presentation + 45 min live playthrough. You'll build CDR cascades (combining methods like afforestation, peatland rewetting, BECCS) while negotiating with players holding different priorities.
Takeaway: A felt understanding that CDR success depends on societal factors — not just technical feasibility — and how to minimise trade-offs across removal pathways.
